Mill Bay, Rathlin Island.

After much build up and discussion with most of the islanders I meet, I finally go into the water at Mill Bay.  My first ever swim on Rathlin after coming here for ten years.  I wonder what was in the way all this time?

The Sun is setting and the water is full of shifting, fluid reflections punctured sporadically by the seal’s head checking me out.  It is almost too beautiful.

The water is a cloudy greeny colour under the surface, not like up at Cooraghy where it was clear and turquoise.  The water, though cold, is lovely and I could stay in for ages.  I am on a beach so I have the security of being able to stick close to the sand with my toes.

Not quite out of my depth.
