June 2018 I attended a residency in Gamli Skóli on the island of Hrísey in North Iceland. The island is a bird sanctuary, eradicated of predators. I particularly wanted to attend during the birds’ breeding season. There is a large Arctic tern population as well as ptarmigan, Arctic skua, fulmar, eider ducks, greylag geese, whimbrels, snipe, godwits, redwings, black headed gulls.
